Hi Eric, BB'sI too have a '71 521, which I've taken to calling a 510 PU to stay below flamethrower level. Mine's sitting in the yard waiting for an L20B or LZ22. A set of SU's and a five speed are also on the calendar (well, no not exactly on the calendar, but it feels good to say it)...From the 510 traffic on the list, I think the 200sx trans will drop in. I'm assuming that the 510 and 521 four speeds are mounted the same, going out on a limb. Therefore, it seems reasonable that it's a drop-in into a 521. That means the drive shaft, shifter, etc. should remain the same. Shifter location is important, especially if you still have a bench seat. My buddy has a 510 with a Z or ZX trans, and the shifter is moved back about six inches, maybe more.If you get anything off list, please let me hear it, 521 info is scarce as hen's teeth, and we've been excluded by design from the BB list. snif snif.Kyle (putting on my asbestos suit and welding helmet)'72 240Z daily driver hot rod'69 2000 dead trans'71 PL521 dead L16Hey there all...
I've been getting raving reviews of this list from alot of dat lovers. I own a 1971 Datsun PL521 P/U running with an L20b and the stock top loader 4 speed trany (I never remember the model number, F or R?). My first of many questions is: How do I mount the 5 speed 200sx transmition up with the least amount of effort. I know its a bolt up to the bellhousing but beyond that does anyone know if the tunnel needs to be tweaked to use the shifter. Also what about drive line, and output shaft differences? Can the stock speedo cable fit up to the tranny? Lay it on me fellas I can use all the info you can toss at me..
