The unit comes with two power wires - one always hot for clock and memory, and the other to power/control the rest of the unit. Simple simple simple, even for the non-mechanically inclined like myself. Anything under 200W /Ch (peak) won't draw too much for the alternator - considering 1W continuous will get you about 90dB of sound pressure level (depending on speaker efficiency), the rest of that wattage is usually to get good S/N with the bass. You won't drive down the road using more than 10W continuous and still be able to hear very well several minutes after getting out of the car. You'll draw more amps with the low beams on all the time than a high-powered stereo amp. Just because you have a 200w/ch amp doesn't mean it's always drawing 200W.
