So you must work as a car grommer(thats what we call it here)what you do will make the car look good, but when it goes smash, the painter will have a hell of a job removing the wax,I have stripped bonnets/cars to steel before, then repaired them,2 pack under coat, then wax fry up,start again. > > > > > To bring old paint up like new use a foam buff pad (wet) with Repco > > extra cut compound dont worry about rubbers and chrome buff over > > them, the buff does a nice job of cleaning chrome and rubbers, once > done > > give it a good soapy warm wash and a good hose off, then use by hand > 3M > > hand glazing compound, this will remove any trace of buff slop left > from > > after the wash, then polish up by hand doing one panel at a time. > > > 3M does make good glazes, but for machine glazing, they're not the > easiest > to use. Yes thats why a good grommer uses a old tooth brush to get in the edges/cracks. > I'd be interested > in > hearing if there's concrete evidence that wax can actually harm paint, > but > I've never heard this before - I'll enquire at a couple of paint shops > and > see what they say. Wax wont hurt the paint, just F%&k it to a degree.if you repaint your car and you plan never never to repaint it or touch it up yeah sure wax it,but if you want a nice car you can retouch anytime Don't use wax. Wax will not make your car shine, the shine comes from the way the paint is put on,i.e the shine comes from the gun not a tin of wax. I agree with you that 3M machiane glaze is shit, thats why I said 3M hand glaze. Malcolm > > Jon Braunstein > '69 2dr This message comes to you from the Datsun 510 mailing list.
