From: "Ben Stevens" <three_leg@hotmail.com> Subject: ignition troubleshooting Date: Mon, 28 Feb 2000 18:54:23 PSTHelp? The motor is stock with stock ignition. the coil, condensers, points, cap and rotor are all new or near new, ive checked the coil wire and plug wires with a meter and they all check out. I haven't completly ruled out a fuel problem, but Im 90% sure its something in the low tension ingnition circuit. Here are the symptoms: the motor starts easily and runs great for about 30-45 minutes(well after warming up). then it begins to cough and hesitate when raced from low rpm. this get progressively worse until it dies and wont restart, or even fire unless it sits for a while. sometimes it will fire and immediatly die. but if i let it sit for an hour or so it will start right up. so far everthing seems to check out. the only thing i wonder about is the wiring, i dont think its wired properly, but like i said, it runs great for a while. Does this sound familiar to anybody?
