It is rumored that Mr. K was on the advisory for the 1st gen RX-7. Mr. K wanted an IRS, but the rearend supplier to Nissan (Fuji Heavy Industries, aka Subaru) could not supply the rearends due to contractual limitations, so the RX-7 ended up with a solid axle!
