Gravity Racer
This car was built in Torrance by Honda R&D. Cars must weigh less than 350 lbs and must be less than 9 feet long. Last weekend (7/29/06) the race was held on Tuna Canyon Road in Malibu, CA. Several auto manufacturers participated. This year Honda won by 7 seconds! Most of the cars had skinny bicycle tires and lacked cornering speed. Tuna Canyon is very twisty. Honda was one of two teams that sacrificed rolling resistance for cornering speed and they had John Morton driving! See the 2006 video on this web site for an idea of the course:
