Here you can see the spacer and how far out the hub face is offset from the strut leg. See other pix description for the components used. -

I used to run this set-up on my 510 which was ideal for FWD rims. The struts are 280ZX as are the discs (rotors). The hubs are from an S12 (Silvia/200SX) and the callipers from a 910 (Bluebird/Maxima)The callipers required a little spacing to get the centralised on the disc. -

The aluminium oil filler cap is from a 1969 Datsun Laurel (model C30) -

It feeds in to the front of the filter nicely. Now all I have to do is build a heat shield to enclose this area off fron the engine compartment. -

This is made from an old headlight (bulb type) with the glass removed and the center cut out of the back with a piece of stainless mesh made from an old seive. The mesh has the same curve as the headlights. I laquered the reflector to stop the silver wearing off. -

I tried to keep this as subtle as possible! -

The camber plates are from ground control. -

I modified the Whiteline strut bar mount bracket by welding up the three stock holes and drilling four to suit the camber plate. I also relocated the bar mounting bracket to the front. -

Performance has exceeded expectations!! Here's a screenshot of some times recorded with a G-tech Pro. The first exceptional time resulted from getting it to hook up in 2nd. Every other time it has smoked the tires. Now all I need is some traction! -

Here's the finished install. It fired up first time and has been faultless ever since. It was well worth all the hard work. -

Apparently oiled filters like K&N's don't do hotwire MAF's much good so I bought this one. -

I ran the intake accross the front of the engine as there was more space for the filter on the left of the engine bay. I intend to fabricate a cold air enclosure for it eventually. The piece of rubber trunking nearest the camera is from a Nissan 300C (Y30) but a similar piece may be found on a 300ZX. Believe it or not the silver pipe is made from a Datsun 1200 propshaft... it was the only tube I could find with the right diameter! Initially the filter was a K&N but has since been changed for a stainless steel one. -

I had to cut the tunnel a bit as the gear lever is much further back than stock. I boxed it in like this and made a lid so that I could remove the whole shifter plate without dropping the tranny. -

I changed to this washer bottle to give room for the intake and filter. This bottle is from a Nissan Sunny (model B11) This model is known as a Sentra in the US.
