From the album: 510 Restoration Start
I finally got a full day on the new shell and finished preping the floor pans for welding in the quarter size patches before the Lizard Skin Ceramic coating gets applied..Also just in are my new quarter panel lower rear patches from Canada.. Not a bad fit, just a bit more work than the more expensive ones you can get from Australia..Glass was removed and channels preped, and a test photo with my AR Vectors.. I just couldn't resist getting a mental picture of my Dads old SSS car.. More o come.. -

After doing the surface rust removal, you could see previous body work in the quater panels that was not done so well..Way too much filler was applied and the factory lines were distorted or missing all together.. I started cutting out all the filler and restoring the body lines back.. Now it's really starting to look like a 510 again!! I'll be using some lower rear quarter patch panels to finish off both quarters before the paint.. -

Right now I'm only able to squeeze about an hour a day into the new body.. We're right in the middle of our racing season, so the race cars take the front seat.. I've been doing the prep work on the floor pans right now and getting them ready for any small patch work then the POR15 and the final application of the Lizard Skin Ceramic heat insulation.. It's coming along nice! -

It about an hour and a half to get both quarters roughed in and a portion of the tail lamp panel..So far, every things going very smooth and I don't forsee and major issues that would hold me up in the resto process.. -

Took about 2 hours striping out the old factory tar paper and now it's time to finish prep it for the new Lizard Skin Ceramic Coatings!! -

I always hated opening up a hood and seeing a bashed up radiator support.. I spent about an hour with a hammer a dolly and finished mine off this past weekend.. No filler in it either.. -

Well, spent most of the day today with my crash car striping out the majority of the remaining parts..The crash actually damaged both front struts and tore out the inserts, and even kinked the pass side inner fender well..The last items to pull will be he drivetrainm and rear crossmember and then it's down deal!! -

Oh Yeah, that's all custom applied material work throughout the car.. Many of the wood panels had to be modified to work as original.. You need to be a carpenter too when working on these old Britt cars!! -
