John Morton sits in the BRE "Stainless Steel Carrot" Lotus at Road Atlanta in 1972. After finishing 4th in the F5000 race, the car was heavily damaged when it slid off the wet track and into a barrier, ending BRE's venture into open-wheel racing.

Autoweek ad 9/14/1974:

"Lotus 70-B

Formula A 5000 basket case. Last of the factory Lotus race cars – ex-Follmer, Morton car. Features all latest 70 series

modifications & B.R.E. preparation. Car was crashed at Road Atlanta, extensive damage but repairable by competent fabricator.

Complete with spares, wheels, tires, including DG-300 Hewland. Price less engines $4500.

Pete Brock, El Segundo, CA"

This photo apparently is by Stan Sholik, who had many photos in "Stainless Steel Carrot". It's from Ray Mann's "Racing Pictorial", Fall 1972
