    ...circa 1990...

From the album: My '72 510

I shot this photo on a UFO SoCal fun run in the mountains above Santa Barbara.
  3. From the album: Oil Cooler

Remote filter mount fits Ford and Nissan 3/4-16 thread filters. Billet aluminum block is an oil thermostat which bypasses cooler when oil temp is less than 180F.
  4. From the album: Oil Cooler

Here you can see how the lines route from the block to the filter, to the billet thermostat, and to the radiator core support to/from cooler through bulkhead fittings.
  5. From the album: Oil Cooler

Placement of the two bulkhead fittings in core support was TIGHT! Radiator clearance was an issue on this side, and head light/turn signal clearance was very tight on other side. Improvised coolant recovery tank keeps it in the family!
  6. From the album: Oil Cooler

90 degree bulkhead fittings just to the right of the high beam, behind grille. To cooler (below) and from cooler (above).
  7. From the album: Oil Cooler

Oil cooler mounted in front of radiator behind grille.
  8. From the album: Front Suspension

This photo shows P/N BZ3038 Tokico Illumina strut insert (280ZX application) with 1.25" cylindrical spacer at bottom to adapt cartridge to stock 11" '72 PL510 struts (kit was from Dave Turner Motorsports in San Diego). Conical bump rubber at top is a TMC unit, and was damaged due to insufficient ride height. See next photo.

    Bump rubber damage

    From the album: Front Suspension

This bump rubber (TMC urethane) wore out due to insufficient ride height. I was running stock '72 510 struts (11") with the short Mulholland springs spec'd for longer 11.5" struts. Mulholland springs spec'd for the 10.5" - 11" struts were taller, but made the car sit nose high.
  10. From the album: Autech SR20DE

The puny oil filter on the left is the OEM filter (P/N 15208-65F00) for my S15 SR20DE. On the right is a standard sized filter for an L-series Datsun engine (15208-W3403).
  11. From the album: Front Suspension

I was able to achieve -2.75 degrees of camber with 280ZX struts, DP Racing coil over conversion, stock length control arms, and no strut tower cutting.
  12. From the album: Front Suspension

More negative camber can be had by clearancing the strut tower center hole. I chose not to cut, and max'd out at -2.75 degrees.

Cusco Piro Ball (Phonetic Japanese for Pillow Ball, which is apparently Japanese for monoball). Packaging label shows part number for P510 application: 235 410 A

    Cobra Imola II seats

    From the album: Interior

Driver's seat is an Imola II, while the passenger side is and Imola II "GT", which is a bit larger.

    ...circa 2003...

    From the album: Other Stuff

...with a little help from Photoshop. I only fiddled with color and texture. No "mechanical" Photoshop mods here!
  18. From the album: Multimedia

Before "Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift", there was "King of the Mountain"! Note the 510 next to the X1/9.
  19. From the album: Watanabe Wheels

These wheels were a JY find, and cleaned up nicely with some mag wheel cleaner. I ran them until I found some real American Racing Libre 14's.
